Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' on the Carpet
So as soon as I figure out how to post videos on this thing I will provide the proof. Until then you'll just have to take my word that our boy is already rolling over. He's not a fan of "tummy time" and does whatever it takes to get off his stomach. We are anticipating crawling by 2 months...that's feasible, I think. ;-)
Chillin' Backstage with the Band
Owen went tonight to meet Uncle Brent and Aunt Sassie (Cassie). The CommonGround Band was playing in Ft Worth, so Owen got to chill backstage and meet everybody. He was the hit of the party. Brent and Cassie are staying the Saturday night with us, so there will be more pics with them later this weekend. Cassie is going to do Owen's photo shoot on Saturday, which we're excited about.
Aunt Sassie is gonna spoil this one!

At Grandma's Request
We've had a request to add more pictures, so here ya go...
I put him down, turned around to throw his clothes in the hamper and when I came back, he was crashed out like this.
Look, I'm a giant!
Relaxing after Dad came home.
Chillin' on the boppy in a post-lunch stupor.

Question...
How is it that a baby can know exactly when you leave the room that has the spit rag (burp cloth, whatever it is)???!?!? It's amazing how they coordinate their spit-ups with that exact moment.
Oh yeah, and if they like the pacifier so much, why keep spitting it out? I try to tell Owen to use logic - if you want it, don't discard it. But does he listen?! Oh, no.

Hangin' with Jack and Lucy
Now don't these three look like trouble?
I'm sure Jack is upset about something his dad just said...get used to it, Jack.

Small Town Doctor's Visit
So, maybe it's because most of our friends grew up here in Arlington and we all live in the same area - but Arlington is a really small town...you know, for having 350,000 people. We found our pediatrician through several of our friends who just raved about him. So, after we met him, we told our friends Matt and Donen (Matt sits next to Ryan at work) about him so they could check him out too. Matt and Donen's boy, Ethan, was born 10 days after Owen.
So, we went for Owen's 2 week check-up on Tuesday. Tara had already seen Jill go in and take Henry back for his shots. When Jill was checking out we could see her behind the glass talking to someone. We could see her say bye and when the door opened...it was Matt and Donen with Ethan. There were only 5 patients in the office and the group of us made up 3 of those. It was weird.
Owen had a good check-up. He's putting on the poundage, getting back up close to his birth weight. Grew a little more - up to 21" (I'm telling you the original measurement was wrong). His jaundice cleared up, so no more trips to the lab. He spits up a lot, which might be due to some reflux. So, at 2 weeks old, he's on the antacid. Tara says it's revenge for all the heartburn he gave her during pregnancy.
And if anyone is wondering about Tara - she's feeling good and has already lost 13 of her 27 pregancy pounds. Doin' good!

Visitor's Galore
We've had lots of folks come by to see Owen. Kyley made her first visit Monday night when Casey and Holly brought us Coker's barbeque for dinner. Then Tuesday afternoon, Anne (pronounced Ahn-nay, which is Turkish for mom - Ryan's mother) and Aunt Ta (Ryan's sister) came for a visit. They stayed one night and helped around the house and pampered Owen. There wasn't a grunt that didn't go unattended. Ryan's dad warned us that would happen. Then tonight Jill and Syd dropped off some supper, breakfast for tomorrow (mmmm...pigs-in-a-blanket - said in a Homer Simpson voice) and some banana bread from Whitney (thanks, Whit!). Needless to say, we've been pretty much spoiled. The crazy thing is that folks from our church are bringing us food for the next 3 weeks! How awesome is that?!
Casey and Kyley
Meeting Aunt Ta. They were a little unsure of each other at first, but it only took about 5 minutes for him to figure out that this was a lady to be nice to because she'll bring him stuff- he catches on quickly.

Anne rocks Owen to sleep.

Kyley's first visit. Hard to think that in just 3 months he'll grow that much. He's just a little guy now.
Jill and Syd dropping off food. Syd's gonna be mad that I put the candid shot in here.
This one should get her approval though - they were ready for this picture. Dinner was great, girls! Thanks!

A Nice Package from Ryan's Office

Stuff from Uncle Benner
Owen got a package full of clothes form Uncle Benner the other day. Here he is wearing one of his outfits. We've received lots of packages from folks over the last week, so thanks everyone!

Tuesdays Are Tough
Well, one week ago we were at the hospital. By this time we had just found out he'd be in the NICU overnight. One week later and we made another trip to the hospital - nothing so serious this time. He had a trip to the doctor for a check-up. He's gaining weight again and had actually grown almost 2 inches this week (if you ask me they measured him wrong the first time - no Hammett comes out only 19" long). But he was looking a little jaundiced, so Tara had to take him to the lab at the hospital. His jaundice has increased, but they're not worried right now. We're just hoping for a sunny week! After all the poking and prodding, he didn't really nap well, so we're hoping he can catch up tonight.
Tozer's never been one to cooperate for pictures, as you can see here. Tara said it was really cute with Tozer laying right next to Owen guarding him. But when the camera came out, it was time to scratch. Well, at least our boys are starting to get along.
Owen and Dad both had a long day. It was nice for some chill time this evening.

Cruisin'
Sunday was a quiet day at the Hammett house. We were trying to catch up on sleep. We're going to try to get a schedule down this week, so we've got a lot to figure out!
We did get out for a few minutes for a walk. Gale said Owen was cruising around in his Baby Cadillac, which is a pretty accurate description for the big ol' honkin stroller Ryan's parents got him. Owen said he found the walk refreshing.

Bono's Little Buddy
Have you heard of Product Red? It's the campaign by Bono, Oprah and some other folks that got corporations to give back a percentage of profit from certain products to help with AIDS in Africa. Well, Mary Beth helped Owen get off to an early start of giving to a good cause by getting him this Baby Gap onesie that says "Diape(RED)". How fun is that?
I'd love to say that's a big yawn, but he got kinda ticked at me when I woke him up to eat.
Also, check out his socks. Casey and Holly got him these socks that look like tennis shoes. We've got colors to match most outfits. What a stud!
Check-up
We went in for a check-up this morning. Everything was good. He's lost a little weight since he was born, but is under the 10% range that they check for. No jaundice. Tara's doing well too. Last night was a long night but she's been power napping all day...except for a trip to Wal-mart to get out of the house.
Naked as a jaybird
Owen had his first bath at home on Friday. He didn't like it that much, but he got over it.
Look at that cute little bottom - he'll hate us when this picture comes up before dates and at his rehearsal dinner.

What the...?!?!
Ok, it might be tough to see it in this picture, but our kid has some hairy ears...yeah, just like your grandpa had. And I'm not talking about peach fuzz. I could put some gel on his ear and his ear could have it's own mohawk. That brown spot above Tara's finger is all hair.
Home
When we got home we had one large task ahead of us...introducing Owen to Tozer (our dog). He was pretty high-strung, especially since he's been inside for the last two months with all our rains and can't go out and expend energy. But Tozer's slowly getting used to the idea.
At bed time on his first night we put him in his 4th of July PJs. (Sorry, they're sideways.)
No doubt this is Ryan's kid...he sleeps in the same position as his dad. You can see he's already racking up a pretty good collection of stuffed animals from grandparents and aunts (you see Rito in there, Aunt Ta?)

Stud Muffin
Back when we were in high school stud muffin was a relatively good term. I guess these days we could translate it into "Pimp Daddy". Regardless the terminology, this was one good looking guy today for his trip home.
