Shots!

Tuesdays have become the least favorite day at the Hammett House. This Tuesday was our first of 3 shot clinics. Living overseas requires a number of immunizations that we do not need here in America. So for the next 3 weeks we will receiving all of these immunizations to keep us healthy while living abroad. Fortunately, the 3 of us are getting off pretty easy since Owen is up to date on all of his well child and Ryan and I each had 13 shots the first time we moved abroad.

Here is the conversation that took place the night before we had shots.
Tara: Tomorrow we are going to the dr. to get shots to make us healthy. It will probably hurt a little bit, but if you are really brave you will get balloon animals and face paint and a Popsicle.
Owen: Is bunny going to get a shot too?
Tara: Yes, Owen, Mommy, Daddy and Bunny will all get shots.
Owen: Are you going to be brave Bunny? Are you going to be brave Daddy?

The next day before going to the clinic:
Tara: Ok, we are going to go get our shots now.
Owen: It will hurt and I will be sad, but I'm going to be brave and get a popsicle. Let's go!

Owen chose to wear his rainboots to get his shots. It was a nice sunny day! Here are pics of the brave boy!

Rockin Out

I walked into our bedroom the other morning and found Owen rockin out to Justin Timberlake on Ryan's iPod. I thought it was really cool that Owen could navigate his way through the entire iTouch menu until this happened.

School Days

Owen goes to school everyday from 8-3pm. He LOVES school and can't wait to go each day. But it's taken me some time to adjust. For the past 2 years, Owen has been by my side everyday, all day, which I love. So I do find myself missing him during the day. But I have found the witching hours between 4 and 8pm (mom's you know what I'm taking about) to be much more enjoyable since I haven't seen Owen all day long. So that's a great thing!

Here's a picture of Owen and his friend. They are in class together with 9 other 2 year olds. Owen's teacher said this is the most active 2 year old class she's ever had. I'm just glad she didn't say Owen is the most active 2 year old she's ever had.

Last week at school they read the story of Noah's arc and learned all of the colors of the rainbow. He is learning all kinds of new things at school, including sharing with friends. When your living room is shared with 3 other families, you can't help but learn to share everything you have with each other. It's a great lesson to learn, but a hard one for a 2 year old. Today at church we learned the verse "God loves a cheerful giver." Owen will have this one memorized by the end of our time here :)

Dinner

We went to dinner tonight at a "special" restaurant with some friends. You can see that Owen seems to be pals with all the girls. Not sure if that's an issue or not!
